The village spirit in the heart of the Flea markets

With its 9m² and more than 000 stands, Vernaison is and will remain the benchmark market, the witness and the original imprint of the birth of success. The Marché aux Puces de Paris Saint-Ouen was born here.

The historic birthplace of the Paris Saint-Ouen flea markets, the first organized market was born in 1920.

At that time, Romain Vernaison, concessionaire of parking rights at the Halles de Paris, then rental of chairs in the Parisian public gardens, and owner of land in Saint-Ouen, installed prefabricated wooden barracks on this piece of area called place says "the 26 arpents".

The village spirit of this market attracted second-hand dealers, discounters and particularly antique furniture merchants. The success is immediate.

Gradually and until the end of the Second World War, these installations will be replaced by more suitable stands.
